In celebration of the release of Aptos, Microsoft’s new default Office font, we partnered with Lucky Risograph to create and give away five limited‑edition risograph posters.

I was invited to join a group of artists tasked with creating a 3D illustration for each letter of the alphabet—each one inspired by the natural elements and the coastal environment of Aptos, California, the place that inspired the font’s name.

Risograph is a duplicator printing method for high-volume graphic arts prints and photographs utilizing high vibrancy inks from Japan.

Often described as a mix between screenprinting and photocopying, the process involves printing one color at a time repeatedly, making each copy unique.

My inspiration for the“T” is an homage to the iconic pier in Aptos, California. For decades, the Aptos Pier endured storms, time, and constant change, yet remained a beloved gathering place for the community.

With its recent demolition, I wanted to reimagine its presence through the lens of Riso inks. The pier is reimagined as a surreal, dreamlike tribute to Aptos' beauty, resilience, and the sense of connection that nature brings us.
